Simon is a very experienced chartered accountant, having qualified in 1998 he was made up to partner in a mid-tier firm in 2006 before moving to Chantrey Vellacott’s London office as a corporate partner in 2008. Whilst in London he also gained valuable commercial experience working with Chantrey Vellacott’s dedicated corporate finance team before returning to his roots on the Wirral to start a family in 2012.
During nearly 20 years in accountancy Simon has had the benefit of working with what in the modern day is an unusually wide-ranging client base, consisting of a core of owner managed ‘SME’ UK businesses but also a significant number of other interesting clients ranging from start-ups and small charities to AIM and fully listed PLCs and very large international groups. He is proud to be classed as one of the last of a dying breed of general practitioners but alongside that has also developed sector and audit specialisms over the years as well as extensive technical experience.
In his own time Simon is actively involved in the not for profit sector, assisting local charities and social entrepreneurs with their financial responsibilities and also undertaking mentoring projects for the Liverpool and Wirral Chambers of Commerce, successfully helping new entrepreneurs to focus their strategies and obtain the funding needed to start out in business. Having recently returned to his Wirral roots, Simon also enjoys watching Tranmere Rovers and spending time with his extended family who are also based on the Wirral.
